On December 12th, the official website of Emperor Japan announced a strategic cooperation agreement with Lib Work aimed at developing and realizing large space wooden residences. As the first step of cooperation between both parties, Lib Work will start selling the "LIVELY VILLA" series of wooden residences planned and designed by Teijin from January 2025, and the residences will use high-performance carbon fiber laminated wood "LIVELY WOOD" with stiffness more than twice that of traditional wood.
With the increasingly serious problems of climate change and resource depletion, most of the trees cut down in Japan are used as timber, but the cedar, which accounts for about 44% of artificial forests, cannot be used as structural materials due to insufficient strength.
Emperor Corporation has developed LIVELY WOOD, a high-performance fiber-reinforced laminated wood that combines traditional wood and carbon fiber. LIVELY WOOD, a high-performance carbon fiber reinforced material from Emperor Corporation, enhances the rigidity and strength of the integrated material through the use of carbon fiber reinforcement, thereby helping to expand the use of wooden structures. The characteristic of "LIVELY WOOD" is to sandwich carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) between integrated wood, achieving high rigidity and strength of wood composite materials while maintaining the advantages of lightweight and thermal insulation of wood.
